Stella-Jane Odoemelam

Stella-Jane is a London based theatre designer, specialising in the professional construction of costume and set, her background ranges from Film, live events, internationally, to dance and theatre design, from a young age she has been immersed in the fundaments of live events and theatre,  establishing a concrete and ethical and sustainable consciousness to her work, her range in professional conduct also ranges from the experience of working with a range of professional backstage teams, from touring and executing leading events , troubleshooting , conducting company feedback and  including assisting and supervising in an array of duties from stage management to delivering workshops on Design, Theatre and Making for stage and performance on a practical level. 

Her expertise in her field also ranges from understanding the technical aspects of design, ranging from the different knowledge of creative design software and as a Costumier, Prop designer, drafting, making costumes from millinery, corsetry to technical quick-change specialised costumes.

It also includes liaising first hand with Artistic directors, choreographers, stage managers, and directors, to managing teams in producing vast amounts of costume production, working previously as an assistant tailor and designer, generating a vast foundation of construction principles that she applies to her working trade ; simultaneously working well under pressure and to set deadlines and the proficiency of  working well with different people from different walks of life to achieve a  unanimous goal.

As a young emerging arts professional she believes it’s highly pertinent to engage in the arts on a first-hand community level, continuing to and learning how to produce engaging quality pieces of art for the local community in conjunction and aside ; Assisting in the development of artists in the performing arts sector and community is something that she is inherently drawn to and believes that it nurtures and instills a high level of professional awareness and expertise.

Most importantly this has been an invaluable experience as a young professional  to her to  broaden her  mind and understand the workings of academia and the labour that is needed to create such a teaching art form, cultivating new talent and instilling her  knowledge learnt through her workings in  practice in her field to others, furthermore she wishes to have the opportunity to learn and channel more of her academic theorisations into professional working experience continuing and  generating a future of engaging work to a high standard.
