Disney is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join as Head of Wardrobe Disney’s The Lion King on a fixed term basis. Working with the Company Manager, Technical departments and General Management Teams and local venue staff to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Liaise between Company Manager, Technical departments, Resident Creative Team, Production and General Management Teams and local venue staff to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances

  • Communicate promptly with the Company Manager, Production, General Management and the Resident Creative Team on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.

  • Manage, supervise and schedule members of the Wardrobe team.

  • Supervise tasks undertaken by the Deputy Head of Wardrobe and support team members in teaching workroom skills.

  • Take an active role in teaching new members of staff, deps and local dressers and wardrobe maintenance staff and work closely with theatre staff at the touring venues to ensure the smooth running of the production and safe handling of costumes.

  • Perform daily setup, oversee Wardrobe pre-sets and provide clear communication within the Wardrobe team.

  • Ensure an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.

  • Ensure all Costumes are maintained and cleaned so they are in working order for each performance.

  • Conduct costume fittings when required to do so.

  • Learn and executing the tracks backstage for the Wardrobe Department.

  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.

  • Responsible for repairing Costumes as instructed and maintaining the show's quality as dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Production Manager and Resident Creative Team.

  • Handle any problems that occur during performances quickly and calmly.

  • Report and feedback show and staff related issues in a timely manner.

  • Play key role in tour moves loading the show in and out of each venue efficiently.

  • Create accurate production paperwork and ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show.

  • Acquire a familiarity with all plots/tracks within the Wardrobe department in order to provide holiday or absence cover for other members of department as required.

  • Attend weekly Head of Department meetings.

  • Work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and maintain a good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices, liaising closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is followed.

Skills Required

  • Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable.

General Manager

We are looking for a General Manager Commercial Productions (Maternity Cover) to lead the General Management function of the RSC’s London production office. You will be a positive force in our small, friendly office, and be motivated by supporting our internal team as well as facilitating artists working on RSC shows in the West End. 

 

You will oversee the effective and professional delivery and operation of productions, considering artist, producer and company needs at all times, and ensuring the wellbeing of companies. The successful applicant will general manage specific commercial productions including but not limited to My Neighbour Totoro (West End) and Kyoto (West End). 

 

Reporting to Executive Producer (London) and collaborating closely with other freelance Executive Producers, key areas of responsibility include (*please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):  

  • Negotiating and overseeing all contracts for commercial productions in line with production budgets and current union agreements, including creative teams, actors, stage management, production teams and other show staff. 

  • Securing creative teams for each production and supporting their work on each production. 

  • Negotiating co-production and venue agreements as required. 

  • Controlling pre-production and running costs for each production.  

  • Collaborating with RSC casting team and freelance casting directors. 

  • Collaborating with Production Management and Design teams.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience: 

  • Significant leadership experience in a management position overseeing productions in commercial theatre

This is a full-time, fixed-term, maternity cover position for 12 months based in London commencing in January/February 2025. 

You will be working 48 hours per week, 5 days, although occasional weekend and evening work will be required.

We are seeking a highly organised Company Stage Manager to join our production team. This is a pivotal role ensuring the smooth coordination of all technical, logistical, and administrative aspects of the production.

Role Overview: 

The Company Stage Manager (CSM) will oversee all stage management duties for the production, from the start of rehearsals to the final performance. Working closely with the Director, Producers, technical departments, and cast, the CSM ensures the efficient day-to-day running of the production and ensures it is delivered to the highest standard. 

The CSM will lead the stage management team, manage communication between departments, and be responsible for the overall logistics of the show. They will oversee rehearsals, tech runs, and performances, ensuring everything runs smoothly and on schedule. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Stage Management Team Leadership: 

○ Lead and supervise the stage management team, including Deputy Stage Manager (DSM) and Assistant Stage Manager (ASM). 

○ Ensure that all stage management tasks, such as rehearsals, cueing, and 

performance-related logistics, are carried out to the highest standard. 

○ Delegate responsibilities appropriately to ensure smooth operation across all performance-related aspects. 

Rehearsal & Show Coordination: 

○ Oversee the smooth running of rehearsals, liaising with the Director, creative team, and technical departments to coordinate all production elements. 

○ Ensure rehearsal spaces are set up efficiently and that all necessary equipment and props are available. 

○ Manage the scheduling and communication of rehearsal calls, fittings, and production meetings, distributing daily rehearsal and show reports to all relevant departments. ○ Coordinate and lead the technical rehearsals, collaborating with the DSM on cueing and running the show. 

Health & Safety Management: 

○ Work closely with the Production Manager on all health and safety aspects of the production, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. 

○ Follow risk assessments and monitor the safe working practices for cast, crew, and technical teams both in rehearsals and during performances. 

○ Act as the primary contact in case of emergency or incident. 

○ Monitor the ongoing Health and Safety compliance of the production during the show run. ○ Report any Health and Safety concerns to the Production Manager. 

Communication and Liaison: 

○ Act as the main point of contact between the creative team, production team, and theatre management. 

○ Facilitate clear and effective communication between all departments, ensuring that information and changes are communicated promptly. 

○ Work closely with the Production Manager on budget control, scheduling, and resolving any issues that may arise. 

Logistics and Scheduling: 

○ Develop and maintain the rehearsal and performance schedules in collaboration with the Production Manager.

○ Ensure that all company members (cast, crew, creatives) are aware of calls and any changes to the schedule. 

Performance Responsibilities: 

○ Attend and supervise all performances, ensuring that the cast and crew are well-prepared and that the show runs smoothly. 

○ Work with the DSM to ensure cues are accurately called, and liaise with the technical team to manage any show-related adjustments. 

Props and Scenic Elements: 

○ Oversee the use and maintenance of props, costumes, and set pieces, ensuring they are prepared, organised, and reset correctly for each performance. 

○ Work closely with the ASM and technical departments to manage any scene changes or adjustments needed during the run. 

Person Specification: 

Essential: 

● Significant experience as a Company Stage Manager or Stage Manager in professional theatre productions. 

● Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing stage management teams. 

● Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities. 

● Knowledge of technical theatre, including lighting, sound, and automation systems. ● Clear and confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise with various departments. 

● Extensive knowledge of health and safety protocols and risk management in a theatre setting. ● Ability to stay calm and problem-solve effectively under pressure. 

Desirable:

Seeking a Tech Swing to join the production of "Calamity Jane " which starts rehearsals in December.

Job requirements include but are not limited to the following:

We are looking for 2 tech swings, one with a lighting bias and one with a sound bias. 

  • Covering show tracks for the Stage, LX, and Sound departments as and when required.

  • Assisting the above departments with maintenance

  • Candidates will require relevant hands-on experience in these departments, the ability to work under pressure and effectively within a team, good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management qualities to ensure that the production runs efficiently and smoothly.

  • Working with the get in’s and get out are required

  • Attend any rehearsals or calls and participate in staff/team meetings as and when required.

Seeking a Sound Number 2 for the production of "Calamity Jane " which tours the UK next year.

Job requirements include but are not limited to the following:

You will be under the supervision of the Sound number 1 and assist with the day to day running the departments.

Job Requirements 

  • Working get in and get out as required.

  • We will expect the Sound No 2 to be trained up in mixing the show to provide cover for the Head of Sound.

  • Attend any rehearsals (production, technical), attend and participate in staff/team meetings as and when required and assist with fit ups and get outs for each tour venue. 

  • Responsibilities include supporting the team with the preparation, operation and maintenance of equipment to implement the sound design for the production. Equipment will include but not be limited to radio transmitters and their associated microphones, communications equipment, playback equipment and speaker systems. 

  • Candidates will require previous experience in sound, the ability to work under pressure and effectively within a team, good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management qualities to ensure that the production runs efficiently and smoothly.
