Artistic Name: Somatic 

Somatic is a dual-heritage Indian-English Sound Artist from Exeter, now based in London. His diverse creative practice encompasses sound and music for theatre, dance, screen, club dancefloors and DJing. Although his sound is rooted in sound systems and dance music culture he takes influence from the rural landscape he grew up in and the myriad of genres from around the world he was brought up on to create his unique sonic identity.

His recent notable work includes: 

- Sonic Landscapes of Colour - a 2-part (ARIA Nominated) audio-documentary sharing the stories of young people of colour who have grown up in the South West, broadcast on the BBC

- The VR film “Child of Empire” which premiered at the Sundance film festival

DJ sets at festivals such as Boomtown & Glastonbury

- The play Daytime Deewane (OFFIE Finalist Best Orignal Sound - Young Peoples Theatre) set ‘in Londons last daytimer’ in 1997

- Over 500k+ plays on streaming platforms

The Drifters - UK Tour - Sound Engineer - [on behalf of Blue Thunder Sound] Responsible for transporting all kit, building and tweaking the sound system to adapt to the performance venue, mixing the show and breaking it down and getting it all to the next venue. 

Koan Sound: Mid 2019 - March 2020 (Due to the Pandemic)

Employed in the role of monitor engineer and backline technician. I also deputed for the touring lighting technician touring our lighting package. 

Soul Traders: 2015 - 2018 

Employed as Sound Engineer and PA tech for the 10 piece soul bands. 

Various hire companies and venues in a one-off freelancer capacity, including: 

Elrow UK: Glastonbury 2017, Elrow Festival 2017, New Years Eve/Day 2017-18 and 18-19 at Motion Bristol 

He worked with Elrow as part of the UK production team initially as a production assistant and runner followed by helping them to rig and de-rig their décor, disperse inlatables among the audience, trigger Co2 jets and run any other menial jobs needed to help the production run smoothly. 

New Beginning Productions – Employed as a freelance Sound Engineer and Stage hand. 

Hot Cheeks Productions – Employed as a freelance at Glade Lounge at Glastonbury festival, and visuals and various other technical roles at various events. 

King Sound Reinforcement – Employed freelance as a Sound Engineer, Stage hand, Stage manager and General tech.

2022 - Footprints - A University of Exeter & Exeter Nothcott Theatre production Directed by Yusuf Niazi - Composition and Sound Design work. 

2021 - The Honeyman - Directed by Alix Harris - an Exeter Northcott Theatre Production - Sound Design & Composition
