Esmé Dann

Esmé Dann is a Costume Designer who completed a BA (Hons) in Costume Design for Performance at London College of Fashion. Her work explores storytelling through costume, incorporating surface design and textile techniques.

She takes an analytical approach to design, ensuring that costumes support the audience’s understanding of character, and that colour, shape, and structure reflect narrative themes. Her style is visually bold and character-led.

She recently designed costumes for Youth Action Theatre and The English National Ballet School. She worked as costume supervisor for Sitting in Limbo at Watford Palace Theatre, and experience also includes interning in embroidery with Julien Macdonald and contributing to large-scale carnival costumes with the Padre Miguel samba school in Brazil for Rio Carnival.

In these roles, Esmé’s responsibilities have included sourcing, designing, and creating costumes, coordinating fittings and alterations, managing budgets, and working collaboratively within creative teams. She is passionate about theatre and is keen to continue developing her experience in costume design and supervision.
