Elliot ‘Eli.P’ Popeau-George is a UK music producer and audio engineer and has been immersed in music ever since he was a child. He has been playing piano and flute since the age of six and this early love of music continued to blossom.
Elliot’s first official solo release was back in 2012, in the form of the Homework LP, which introduced the world to his eclectic vision, followed by Extra Credit, which arrived in 2013. After taking time to develop his career behind the scenes, he went on to release Opals LP in 2019, but with plenty of external production credits notched up in the interim, including a couple of collaborations with English recording artist and Afropunk favourite, Mickey Lightfoot.
He has also worked with various theatres such as Bush, where he provided the soundtrack and Sound Design for the Bush Young Company’s debut Show entitled ‘Back Up’, and Stratford Circus as a live audio engineer and technician for various live music and theatre performances.
Elliot has also maintained a professional working career alongside my music, in the SEND Education, Mental Health and in Higher Education sectors respectively. During his time as a Music Interaction Teaching assistant/Unqualified Music Teacher, Elliot would regularly manage and create resources for lesson plans and interaction sessions for over 30 students, as well as general learning resources for teachers, support staff and parents.
His work in Mental Health started with City & Hackney Mind, a community based mental health charity, where he spent a year working as a community advocate. His work saw him assist service users with dealing with matters such as accessing community mental health services, housing and other social issues. He then moved within the organisation to Forensic in the John Howard Centre for two years managing a caseload of service users within the hospital, assisting them with various issues and liaising and corresponding with the various clinical and non-clinical staff within the unit.
He now works part-time as coordinator for Mind’s Young Black Men’s project, aimed at equipping young Black men and the wider BME community with the skills, knowledge and confidence to support their own mental wellbeing, that of their peers, and to create and implement their own community-based solutions to tackle the problem of mental ill-health amongst black men.
